It has been seven months since Benji was first rescued. This is Benji's second video.

It shows his progress, most importantly his triumphs and tribulations.

As Benji's rescuer, I made this video to appeal for financial assistance from the public (You) to help cover the high expenses which occurred in his boarding, medical needs, physiotherapy and acupuncture from the day he was rescued, July 1, 2012 till today, January 24, 2013.

The total is estimated to be close to RM5,000 as of now. The Vet is being very lenient by allowing me to make full payment when he finally discharges to go to his new home. I will get an accurate figure by the end of January 2013.

He is now well and healthy enough to be adopted. Kindly share this video to friends and family members.
Benji hope to find a strict and affectionate owner soon so that he can run every day and not be confined in the Clinic.

Thank you in advance.

Benji's story

This blog is dedicated to help Benji, the paralysed dog to raise funds only. Once he is discharged in September 2012, I will post the receipts of his treatments from the Vet, acupuncturist, and physiotherapist. And when we have reached our target, we will post the list of donors here too. Please visit this site for regular updates.

Here is Benji's story:

He is one of the stray dogs that lived in my neighbourhood.

On July 1st, Sunday, a beige dog was found crying and dragging his hind legs across the back alley of our neighbourhood in Old Klang Road. He seemed confused with his current condition and tries to run with his pack but could not keep up. A few neighbours spotted, cornered and rescued him.

We named him Benji and he was sent to Dr Goh Kim Siang in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong. After getting an X-Ray, we found out that his hind legs are paralysed (deep pain) due to spinal injuiry (fracture) and nerve damage.

Dr. Goh suspected that he got ran over by a vehicle, either car or motorbike. Benji has a good chance of recovery due to his young age and natural 'fighting spirit' from being a street dog.. He is recuperating well under the Vet's supervision. After the first month, Benji will undergo acupuncture and physiotherapy treatments. After the second month, we hope Benji will be strong enough to take his first step to learn to walk again.

So far, Benji has good appetite and is good natured. He is able to defecate on his own although he cannot always control his bladder and need help with emptying his bladder on a daily basis. Once he has recovered and is able to be fully mobile again, I hope to find him a loving home.

Due to the escalating costs of caring for a dog with special needs, I would like to appeal to you for financial assistance. Benji needs to raise an estimated amount of RM2,000++ for 8 weeks of boarding, treatment, acupuncture and physiotherapy.

Updates on Benji:

Visited Benji on 26 July 2012 and he seems to be coping very well. He loves visitors and will show his undivided attention and affection by licking your hand non-stop! If you are in the Puchong area, please drop by to visit Benji, the paralysed dog. If Dr. Goh is unsure which, just say it's Teresa's rescue because Doc is treating another paralysed dog with fractured spine, and this poor dog is stationed next to Benji.

Good news is that Benji will be starting his acupuncture treatment in August. Appointments has been made. The not-so-good news is that I can't find anybody to do his daily physiotherapy exercises to stimulate mobility in his limbs. Each session should last 40mins to 1 hour. The physiotherapist will only visit once a week and monitor his progress but there has to be someone willing to be his caretaker. Where can I find such person? Dr Goh, unfortunately, has far too much on his plate to take this task.

If you know anybody living in Puchong or Subang area and is willing to learn how to do simple exercises with Benji, please leave me a comment here with your contact details.
